Putterball Review

Putterball Review

Putterball is a revolutionary new golf game anyone can play!  PutterBall began with a dream of bringing a golf-themed backyard party game to the masses. The PutterBall board is made of 100% high-density durable foam that you can walk on, stand on, and transport just about anywhere!

Packaging / Set Up / Portability Rating: 5/5

The packaging is spot on, and gets bonus points because it has a handle. First game that we’ve reviewed that has a handle on the box. Everything inside the box fit well, and came out easy. I honestly didn’t think the putters were in there based on the size of the box but they were! I liked that the carrying case and putters were wrapped in plastic to keep it from getting scratched.

It’s extremely easy to set up, seriously, so easy. There isn’t any assembly besides putting the Puttball magnets on the game. You just unfold, take the green covers out and your ready to go. The carrying case is massive, so putting everything into the case was a breeze. The strap and carrying case itself is well made, and definitely seems like it will hold up over time. I give this a 5 out of 5 for Packaging / Set Up / Portability, no complaints or issues on any of those items.

Gameplay Rating: 5/5

Putterball gameplay is straightforward. You choose sides and putters (red or blue), and the first side putts two balls trying to get it into one of the holes. If you make it in one of the holes you put the green hole cover over it. Whoever makes it in all of the holes first wins! They have other games you can play, and you can also cover all the holes expect one to just practice your putting.

Long term I will most likely use my own putter to play, since the putters that come with it are pretty short. They are great for kids though, and if you don’t want to take your own putter somewhere the two that came with it fit great in the carrying case. Yard games that you don’t have to spend a lot of time learning the rules are the best. That’s why we are giving Putterball a 5 out 5 for Gameplay

Durability Rating: 4/5

The foam is very high-quality, honestly much nicer than I expected. It’s not 100% weatherproof, but is weather resistant. I stomped on the game and ran around on it, and didn’t have any rips or tears. For the price point I was expecting that to be the case, so I’m glad to say that it passes the test. The putters are middle of the road and get the job done. Same feedback on the two balls, unless you are a scratch golfer, I don’t think you will be able to tell a difference in this ball and a ProV1 haha.

The green hole covers are durable, and fit well on top of each hole. It has the perfect amount of pressure to keep it in tight.

The carrying case has nice stitching, and has a weather proof inner lining which is awesome! Of all the carrying cases I’ve seen for backyard games, this is on the top of the list for sure.

With all the factors I’ve mentioned above, we are going to give it a 4 out 5. What’s holding it back from getting a 5 is that it’s not 100% weatherproof, and doesn’t come with a lifetime warranty. At this price point we like to see both of those.

Family Friendly Rating: 4/5

I have a 4 and 3 year old, and they have loved playing it so far. Really, because it is relatively a short distance anyone can play. You don’t have to be good at golf, so all skill levels can play and have a good time. We also experimented with chipping it from other parts of our backyard which was a fun family activity. The game is lightweight, and easy to put in the carrying case. It has a nice strap, so it’s easy to throw it in the car or take it down to the park. I’m giving it a 4 out 5 with a *disclaimer that you do need to supervise kids playing because the putters can hurt someone.

Putterball is $189.99, and so within our rating system, we give it a 3 out of 5. As a reminder, below is how we decide the pricing rating. You got a lot for the price, 2 balls, 1 game mat, 2 putters, 1 carrying case, and free shipping! If it didn’t come with a premium carrying case, I might feel differently about the overall price. Highly recommend the game, and its been a family favorite already.
